Police are investigating a burglary on Tuesday in which $100,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from a family's home in Vail.

The suspect forced entry into the residence, according to a news release form the Eagle County Sheriff's Office.

No one was home at the time of the burglary.

Officers encourage residents to keep their valuable out of plain sight and in a secure location, such as a safe-deposit box or a bolted-down floor safe.
